Year 3 - 3A

Welcome back, everyone!

We hope you have had a wonderful Easter and are ready for another exciting term in Year 3.

We are so excited about all of the fantastic things that will be going on this term and we will be keeping you up to date with what we are doing on the website.

Our topic this term is going to be all about Our Extreme World and we will be finding out lots of things about al the amazing Natural phenomena that our World shows us. We will be doing lots of activities in our Kagan books and loads of English work linked to our topic.

We thought we'd take this opportunity to remind you about the things you need.

We do two PE lessons per week. These will be on Wednesdays and Fridays.

The children in year 3 will also have the opportunity to continue to learn a brass instrument with the Tameside music service. These lessons will still take place during school times on every Monday afternoon so it is vital that the instruments are in school on this day. The children will have the opportunity to bring their instruments home to practise. We will be showing you all that we have learned so far in a fantastic assembly at the end of the term. The children will also have a wonderful opportunity to go to the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester and play their instruments with the World famous Halle Orchestra towards the end of the year. We will send out letters nearer the time as there is an opportunity for you to get tickets for this event to come and watch a breathtaking concert.

We are also carrying on with our homework menu this term. We have created a new sheet all about Our Extreme World which we have attached a copy of below and which will also be stuck into the children's homework books.  They still only need to complete one piece per week. They will also receive a piece of spelling homework in their homework books most weeks and tables homework. It is brilliant to see that so many of the children have been using the fantastic "Times Tables Rockstars" website and it has had a massive impact on the knowledge of the children so far. If you are not sure how to access the web-site, pop into school and ask any of the teachers and we will be happy to give the log-in information. Our battle of the bands has started again and Mr. Griffin is desperate for his winning run to continue! The children are also expected to read at home at least twice a week. This is really important as we do not want any of the children falling behind with their reading. There will occasionally be comprehension sheets sent home to check the children are understanding what they are reading also.

We will also be enjoying our amazing School Sports week this term. This will be during the week beginning the 19th June and there will be some astonishing opportunities for the children during that week, as well as chances for you to come and share some of those opportunities with your children.

We will be updating the website regularly but if there is anything you are unsure about or would like to know, please don't hesitate to come in or ring up and ask us anything.

Mr. Griffin, Mrs.Akhtar, Miss. Pinington and Mrs. Paton.
