In 3G we have been learning about the Stone Age. In the stone age they use sticks and stones to make weapons and tools, which were used to kill animals and to build things. They found coloured rocks and berries to make cave paintings on the walls. We are reading a book called the stone age boy and  we are writing about it.

Stone Age tools

The earlies Stone Age tools were made at least 2.6 million years ago. They included basic stone kits made by early humans.

The oldest stone tools known as the oldowan tool kit consisted of :

hammerstones that show battering on their surfaces

stone cores that show flake scars along one or more edges

sharp stone flakes that were struck fro the cores and offer useful cutting edges

About 1.76 million years ago early humans began to strike large flakes and them continue to shape them by striking smalle flakes fro around the edge. This made a new kind of tool called a hand axe. These tools and other kids of large cutting tools were know as acheulean tool kits.

Stone Age Topic

The Stone Age people didn't use the same tools as we use today, like drills, scissors and knives.  They used to use bow and arrows, spears and axes, most of these were made out of stone, that's why it was called the Stone Age.

Stone Age people used to hunt during the day, they hunt down animals by hiding and not making a sound and they jump out at the animal and cut them with there axe or stab them with their spear. They also make baskets out of rope and use these to collect nuts, berries and leaves.

i am enjoying doing this topic, I hope I learn a lot more.
